SAT & SUNDAY 10/29-10/30 GOVERNMENT BUILDING

Hello everyone. Welcome to HOMELAND. Those of you who have worked with us before know how this works...for those of you who have not, this is how we do it.

NOTE: I AM ADDING TO THIS SAME POST FOR ADDITIONAL CATEGORIES FOR SUNDAY. IF THAT APPLIES TO YOU...READ ON.

Following you will find specific instructions about the things that you should bring for the roles that you will be playing. You will also find general instructions for the day and helpful hints that will make every one's life, including your own easier.

We are playing the current season and weather. Fall and a bit chilly. The colors that you choose should reflect the season. We would also be fine with some of the softer, muted colors of Spring. Just none of the bright, overly saturated colors that you find in the Summer. Pattern and texture are good, just nothing too bold or busy. Please, refrain from bringing clothing with large, obvious logos and/or artwork. Whatever is chosen for you to wear on Saturday will be what you have to wear again on Sunday. It will have to match exactly since we are shooting the same scene on both days.

Everyone should bring choices of the clothing that is described for your character to bring. This helps us put together the best overall look for everyone. The more choices you bring, the better we can make you look. When packing your things, please try to put them in an orderly manner and one that will help them look as good as possible out of your bag. We will not be able to press or steam your clothing as there are so many of you. I realize what packing clothes does to them and that is fine, but shoving them into a bag without even folding them is not going to make them look their best :-) Thank you!

Now for a couple of general notes. These are very important!
1. Everyone should come dressed in their first, best choice of the clothing described for your character. You should bring your other options with you, but should be dressed for your role when you arrive. We have 250 people to process and this one thing will help immeasurably in getting everyone done in a timely manner. Of course, if you are playing one of the uniformed roles, you will be receiving your costume from the Costume Dept.

2. It is supposed to be chilly on both Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be around 60. You will not be allowed to wear heavy coats on camera as they are too heavy for our Fall season. Light weight jackets worn in Fall will be allowed and asked for. Everyone should come prepared with thermal underwear or silks that can be worn under your clothing to keep you warm. This includes anyone who will be getting a uniform from the Costume Dept. The Costume Dept will not be able to provide these things for all of you, so you should come prepared. You will be able to wear light weight jackets that are typical of Fall and will be asked to bring them, but heavy Winter coats will not be allowed on camera. Women, pantyhose/tights are very helpful for this, as I'm sure you already know.

3. When you arrive at Extras Holding and are checked in by the AD Dept, there will signs that will divide you up into the categories of the roles that you are playing. It is very important that you go to your designated group and stay there until you have been checked out by the Costume Dept. This will help us to get through everyone more quickly. Our mornings on these days will be best described as "organized chaos," and we will be insistent that everyone follow the rules and protocol set forth. Thank you!

And now for the costume information.....
Once again, everyone should bring options of the items requested for your role, while wearing your first, best choice.

DC COPS, FPS, SWAT will be receiving your costumes from the Costume Dept. Many of you have already been pre-fit. Everyone should bring with you a white, short sleeve crew neck tee shirt and black socks. Don't forget your thermal underwear/silks to stay warm.

SECRET SERVICE should all wear and bring choices of dark suits: black, navy or grey. These suits should be relatively simple and free of obvious patterns or pin striping. Subtle is fine. Men should all have a white, long sleeve button front dress shirt. This shirt should have a plain collar, no button-down collars. Women should be in simple white, button front long sleeve blouses. Ties should be dark in color: black, grey, navy, burgundy, dk green, etc. They should also be simple in pattern and tone. The Secret Service is not known for being on the leading edge of fashion, and in fact work to blend in. Therefore, the ties that they wear are relatively plain and simple. Don't forget your dark dress shoes and belts to go with your suits. You should all remember to bring thermal underwear/silks with you to keep warm under your suits.

CIA should wear and bring choices of dark business suits. This would be slack suits for the women. Lighter colored shirts/blouses like tan, cream, light blue, light grey. Men should bring darker ties with simple patterns. Don't forget the dark dress shoes and belts to work with your choices. CIA should also bring a light weight windbreaker that could be worn over dress pants and dress shirt in case we want to go with the "undercover" look.

CAMERAMEN should wear and bring casual clothing choices to include non-ripped jeans, khakis, cargo pants, long sleeve button front and pullover shirts/blouses. Also include things like light weight jackets, hoodies, pullover/zip front fleece and vests. Also, caps and knitted caps without logos would be great for this look. This is a layered look and this will also help with keeping everyone warm. Don't forget the appropriate shoes/boots that will work for this look.

PAPARAZZI should wear and bring clothing in mostly or all dark colors like black, grey, navy, dk green, etc. These item should include dark non-ripped jeans, cargo pants, dark slacks, long sleeve button front and pullover shirts/blouses. Also include light weight jackets, hoodies, pullover/zip front fleece and vests. Also, caps and knitted caps without logos would be great for this layered look. Clothing that has visible pockets like cargo pants and utility vests are great for this look as a Paparazzi cameraman will always have need of storage for cameras, film, etc. Don't forget the appropriate shoes/boots that will work for this look. Thermal underwear/silks reminder.

PRESS should wear and bring choices to include clothing from casual (read CAMERAMEN above) to dressy (read ON-AIR REPORTERS below). We might want to have someone in jeans and a blazer, or Dockers and a sweater...Please read both above and below and wear and bring choices that will hit both of them.

ON-AIR REPORTERS should wear and bring choices of business suits in darker colors like black, navy, brown, grey. Light colored shirts and blouses like light blue, tan, cream, light grey, etc. Ties can have color but should be relatively simple in terms of design and pattern. Women may certainly bring scarves and other accessories that will individualize their look. Don't forget the appropriate shoes and belts for your clothing choices. Thermal underwear/silks/pantyhose reminder.

GAWKERS/ONLOOKERS should all wear and bring nice casual clothing choices to include nice, non ripped jeans, khakis, slacks and skirts. Also choices of long sleeve button front and pullover shirts and blouses. Light weight pullover sweaters and cardigans. Please remember the color palette mentioned above and to refrain from articles with obvious logos and artwork. Everyone should bring at least two choices of light weight jackets/hoodies/fleece zip and pullovers. We will be using all of you in a couple of different places and the easiest way to make the change is to change an outer layer such as a jacket. In this way, the same crowd can be made to look different in a quick, convincing way. Don't forget the shoes/boots to go with your clothing choices. Thermal underwear/silks/pantyhose reminder.

Note from the Props Dept: If you have a camera and camera bag, please bring that along as a prop. Thanks!

BRODY TOWN CAR DRIVER should wear the same exact costume that was worn on Wed, 10/26, while working as the TOWN CAR DRIVER.

BUNKER MEN AND WOMEN & MILITARY BRASS Some of you have been to the Costume Dept for fittings. The men that have not been in for fittings should all wear and bring choices of suits in either black, navy or grey. No brown please... It's a design thing. Lighter colored shirts in cream, tan, light grey, light blue. Ties can have color but the patterns should be relatively simple. You are meant to be powerful politicians and so, should dress the part. Dark dress shoes and belts to complete your look. All of you, men and women, should bring thermal underwear/silks/pantyhose-tights to wear under your chosen costume as you will not be wearing coats on camera and it will be chilly on the days that we shoot this. This also goes for our Military Brass.

I want to thank everyone in advance for bringing all the right things and for coming dressed in your first, best options. It will be a busy and hectic 2 days, but with your help and enthusiasm we will make it happen!! We look forward to meeting and working with you all.
See you on the Set!!!!
