Friday 7/27 HOSPITAL

Hello all and welcome.  We are glad that you'll be joining us tomorrow.  Some of you may be new.  Following you will find specific instructions for what to bring with you for your role as a Background Player.  There will also be some other instructions.  Please read everything very carefully and comply as fully as you can.

Some of you may be playing more than one role.  Please read the instructions and costume descriptions for every role that you are to play and bring the items for each.  We will want to make all the choices in the beginning so that you'll know what to change into when the time comes.  For that reason, bring all of your options in with you when you check in.  DO NOT LEAVE ANY OF YOUR CLOTHES IN YOUR CAR, PLEASE!!!

A creative choice has been made to keep most of the hospital interior, and the mood, dark.  We will be using grey and navy scrubs to help with that.

NURSES & ORDERLIES will be given scrubs by the Costume Dept.  You should bring with you dark sneakers or other appropriate shoes like Crocs or clogs.  Please make sure that the shoes are dark; grey, navy, black, etc., as the scrubs will be dark.
You should also bring layering pieces such as long sleeve tees, thermals, cardigan sweaters.  These things should also be in med to dark colors.
If you are a medical professional and have your own dark grey or navy scrubs, you are welcome to bring them.

DOCTORS will be given lab coats by the Costume Dept.  Please bring options to include button front dress shirts/blouses, ties, dark slacks/skirts, nice shoes to work with these options.  DOCTORS should also bring dark sneakers/shoes to wear in case the Director would like to see the DOCTORS in scrubs.
If you are a medical professional and have your own lab coat, dark grey or navy scrubs, you are welcome to bring them.

PATIENTS will be given hospital gowns by the costume department.  These are real hospital gowns and will operate as such; the back is open!  The gowns are a basic white with a design.  PATIENTS should come prepared to be "dressed" under your gowns so that there are no modesty issues.  Since the gowns are white, so dark colors will show through.  Light colored tanks and tees, a pair of light colored gym shorts or pj bottoms would allow you to be dressed for the scene and remain clothed and covered when not on camera.  A house coat or bath robe to wear over your gown would also do the trick.  Bring shoes that will be easily slipped off and on.  House slippers, flip flops, Crocs, etc.

PARAMEDICS will be given a uniform shirt by the Costume Dept.  Please bring a pair of navy or black pants, black belt, black sneakers or hiking-style boots, black socks and a white crew neck undershirt.

VISITORS & PASSERSBY WITH CARS should bring several options of casual clothing to include:
non-ripped, nice jeans / khakis / slacks & skirts
choices of long and short sleeve casual shirts / blouses
cardigan sweaters & light weight jackets
The color palette for these things should remain mostly neutral.  Tan, grey, brown, dark green, burgundy, etc.  Color is fine, just nothing too bold or bright.  Texture and pattern are great, but keep it simple.  Nothing too busy.  Don't forget your shoes and belts for your options.

Thanks in advance for reading the blog and following the instructions to the best of your ability.  We are looking forward to working with you and will see you on the set!!

Tuesday 7/24 EXTERIOR PLAZA

Hello everyone and welcome.  Following you will find the specifics for the things that you will need for your work as Background Players on Tuesday, 7/24

First a couple of ground rules then on to the specifics.  Everyone should come dressed in their first, best options of the described wardrobe and bring with you the options so that we may look at them.  There will be no time to run to your car after you have been checked in by the ADs.  Bring all of your clothing with you.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES IN THE CAR!!!!!

The scene that we are shooting is the early morning commute to work in Washington, DC.  The look is business, professional, conservative, political.  For those that are listed below as ND STREET/BUSINESS
there will be a second, subtle change of costume so as to increase the "number" of people.  That means to please bring options of the described clothing so that we can plot this as simply as possible.  There will be others who have more specific changes and you are listed below as well.

We will be shooting these scenes Rain or Shine.  Doesn't look as if it will be an issue, but.......
Please bring a small, collapsible umbrella that you could store in your prop briefcase/satchel/purse and if you have a business appropriate rain coat/trench, please bring that along with the options listed below.

The color palette should be one of neutrals and darks with the addition of hints of color here and there.  The more colorful something is the less business-like or serious impression it may make.  That is a broad generality, but when dealing with the quick impressions that things make on camera, we have to go with how things feel, sometimes over how they look.

We will now move onto the look for ND STREET/BUSINESS...
ND STREET/BUSINESS should all wear and bring options of all of the following:
-dark business suits & neutral business suits (grey, tan, brown, etc)
-dark sport coats/blazers and slacks/skirts
-cardigan sweaters & light weight jackets
-lighter colored dress shirts and blouses; white, cream, tan, light blue, light green, pale yellow, pale pink, etc
-ties, scarves and other accessories in darker, more subdued colors without bold patterns; business
-conservative, understated jewelry for the women
-dark dress shoes to work with your options.
We will choose a second change that can easily be done by using the base of your first change, so please bring options.

FROM THE PROPS DEPT:  The Props Dept is requesting that everyone bring a satchel, briefcase, large purse, backpack, etc to carry with you for your "commuter" prop.  These things should feel suited to the clothes that you are bringing.  In other words, no Spider Man back packs with your business suit :-)

BLUE TEAM ONE & BLUE TEAM TWO should wear and bring options of all of the following:
khakis, slacks, skirts
long and short sleeve dress shirts and blouses
long and short sleeve casual shirts and blouses
sport coats/blazers
dark business type suits
cardigan sweaters & light weight jackets
casual shoes to work with your options.

CYCLISTS will be dressed as Business folk for their first change and then put on their Cyclists garb for the second change.  Please remember to bring all of your normal cycling clothing, (ones without too many obvious logos, if possible) helmet, pads, shoes, and of course, your bike.

Thanks to everyone in advance for reading the blog and bringing all the great stuff.  We couldn't do this without you and we appreciate all your efforts!
See you on the Set!!
